So I’m finally into taper mode for the Brighton Marathon, with less than 3 weeks until April 6th and it’s been a difficult journey so far.
After last years disaster I decided that I would really like to achieve a decent time this year so I started training properly. Unfortunately, my shins had other ideas and I got shin splints. I missed a couple of weeks and it has limited me to a single long run a week.
Then, a few weeks ago, I got a nasty cold/chest infection that wiped me out for another couple of weeks. So in conclusion, training hasn’t gone well!
I got my last long run done this week (19.5 miles) and based on that, I won’t be getting the time I wanted, but with any luck, I WILL get round.
But onwards and upwards!
Always trying to go bigger and better with my charity fundraising for Macmillan, I have decided to do a 24 hour endurance run around Preston Park cycle track this September. One whole day and night of moving round and round a 579 metre concrete loop.
I did an 18 mile training run around it recently (50 laps) and will be doing more around there in the coming months.
I will be looking for company for the big event so I don’t lose my mind running round and round and round…….
