Joe is a fantastic personal trainer. Friendly, fun and highly professional. In a very short space of time he's helped me feel healthier and stronger and most importantly get rid of this excess belly i've been trying to lose my entire life. I can't recommend him enough.
I've been working with Joe for a few months in Brighton and I really enjoyed that period. I needed help changing my sedentary lifestyle and fighting my laziness.
We choose to mix outdoor sessions in the green parks of Brighton and indoor sessions in the gym to never get bored of doing the same workouts. Every session even the shortest were very tough, focussing on every aspect of the training.. building muscles, cardio exercise and stretching.. and also other general aspects like food, sleep, life style and so on..
I'm grateful for his help and his patience, always smiling and funny even in the hardest days. He was my first PT ever and he makes look everything easier. I really recommend him!
Train with Joe. In my case it would not be an overstatement to say he totally changed my lifestyle. He keeps workouts varied and new and you’re never stuck doing one thing for too long. When those days swing by when you’re feeling rubbish and not up to doing it, after the first ten minutes with him that feeling has totally gone and you’re really into the session. I always had a slight prejudice that it’s a bit extravagant to have a personal trainer but it turned out to be one of the smartest, most beneficial decisions I’ve made in a long time. It has saved me so much stress, depression and anxiety about my weight and eating habits. Joe helps you with eating plans / food ideas and really drilled in the idea that it’s not a diet that will help you, you need to change the way you live. It’s not about skipping meals or getting ‘low/non-fat’ everything. Eat less processed foods and you will have the energy and enthusiasm to exercise. It’s all things we supposedly ‘know’ already but working with Joe actually made me realise how much it changes everything. If you come in to exercise with him having eaten badly (or drank) the night before / few days prior, he will see it in the way you’re performing, so it helps you practice how to eat sensibly, consistently. As he trains you he explains what it’s working, why it’s beneficial, and that lifting weights won’t turn into some huge terrifying, veiny body builder. Turns out lifting weights is one of the best things you can do. You learn a phenomenal amount about exercise (and myths about supposedly good exercises), my housemates were always asking me questions when I’d come home from a session.
After some months of training with him, I’m happier and healthier than I’ve ever been. I first started with the aim to lose X amount of weight but that’s changed to just be active, get stronger and eat healthily - not numbers on a scale (and funnily enough, this has resulted in a big weight loss). My old negative eating habits don’t creep up on me like they always had in the past and I’ve kept up with regular weekly exercise. He is also a very amusing, interesting guy with a thing about superheroes and a questionable taste in music, so there’s lots to chat about or tease him with.
Honestly, do it.

After some family health problems and being caught up in the endless failed diet cycle I made a decision to make some changes to my life. I nervously typed Joe Addison PT an email after a friend recommended him to me and I took (for me personally) a huge scary leap in to the world of health and fitness. I can’t really put in to words how great that leap has been. I’ve been training with Joe for around 7 months and he has been an inspiration to me and my fitness journey. The most important thing I’ve learnt from Joe is that getting fit takes time and effort and knowing that those efforts shape your life and future. It’s about changing your mind set, setting realistic goals, doing your best, eating the right foods, pushing yourself and above all… not giving up!
